My name is Katelyn Ensley, I am 15 years old and have been playing soccer since I was 6 years old. Currently, I am a Sophomore at Woodstock High School, and my goal is to play soccer at the collegiate level. Ever since I was younger, I have always had a strong passion for soccer. The sport has shown me determination, commitment, and perseverance.
This past year I made the decision to move clubs in the hope of finding a more competitive league and a team which would push me every day to become a better player and person on or off the pitch. Ever since I was six, I have played club soccer at Georgia Impact. My freshman season we happened to qualify for national league pro, and we ended up finishing 1st in National Premier League (piedmont bracket). However, I felt the competition wasn’t pushing me anymore and I felt in order to get to the next level I was going to need to make a change. I started looking into ECNL and found a club that allowed me to train with them in the off season (the winter leading to tryouts). After the 1st practice, I remember feeling tired, but I knew this was right. Day and Night I trained in my backyard and would go on long runs preparing for tryouts and the upcoming season. Once tryouts came, I made the ECRL team at UFA. Currently we are in first place in our bracket, and I was honorably named captain for this season. I have never been prouder of a team.
Primarily I am a center back but if needed I can also play center forward. As a center back I work hard to keep a clean sheet, communicate which keeps every player on the same page, and defensively win the ball back to keep possession. I strive in 1v1s. Beating the player in pace, then delaying the attacker, so my other 3 defenders can get back to help support. My goal going into each game is to organize my defense, put myself in the right position to win the ball, and pass simply out of the back.
As a forward, I strive to create attacking moments in on goal. I work hard to keep the center backs busy to play through balls to my wingers, which allows me to run back/front post for easy crosses and tap-in goals. I love working with my attacking midfielder for simple through balls between the center-backs which allows me to have 1v1s with the keeper. Going into the game as a forward my goal is to be constantly on the move and make dangerous runs to support my team in the attacking 3rd.
In the classroom and in my community, I work diligently to keep a 4.0 GPA. Currently, I take AP World History, Honors Geometry, and Honors Multi Literature. Last year I took honors 9th grade literature and Honors Algebra 1. Next year my goal is to take 2 more AP-level courses, my third year in Spanish, and even enroll in getting a position in student government. Within my community, I go to Woodstock City Church and plan to lead a group of middle school students in following the path of God this summer. During the holiday season, I plan to help at the Atlanta community food bank and wrap presents for the children in hospitals.
Personally, I want to become a physical therapist in sports medicine and your university provides the majors I would need to graduate. Additionally, I followed your team this season and thought you had an amazing season. I would be honored to be part of your 2026 team.
Sincerely,
Katelyn G Ensley
