Personal Statement
For as long as I can remember, soccer has always been a huge part of my life. My parents, who were both soccer coaches, dropped a ball at my feet at age two, and the sport became my instant love.
By the age of 5, I had already made it a goal to play college soccer. I volunteered regularly as a “ball girl” for our local D1 women’s team and studied everything those college players did. I knew that I would need to work hard to realize my dream, and I spent countless hours striving to better myself. If my shots weren’t on in a game, I was the kid who stayed after practice for hours shooting until I was stopped by the dark of night. Free kicks became my specialty, and coaches started borrowing me as a guest player to help them win tournaments with my reliable shots.
Soccer isn’t just a game to me; it’s my passion. During my high school career, I was named MVP multiple seasons. I was named to the Idaho All State team as well as first-team all-conference.
Because I received a full ride offer from Central Wyoming College and was in recovery from surgery, I signed with CWC rather than accepting offers I had from numerous upper division programs. I thought this would be a great stepping stone toward my ultimate goal of playing at a higher level. I am grateful for the experience I have gained playing for Coach Paskett at CWC, and I am now ready to move my soccer career to the next level.
Letter of Recommendation From My Club Coach
It is my privilege to write this recommendation for Nicole Davis. I have been fortunate to coach Nicole for Portneuf Valley Soccer Club for 7 seasons since she was 12 years old. She is now a player at Central Wyoming College.
Nicole is the hardest working student athlete I have worked with in my 9 years of coaching competitive soccer as a club head coach or as a High School coach. In all my dealings with Nicole, she has shown to be a young woman of character, talent and perseverance. She was always the last to leave practice, often staying behind for hours to practice and improve. I remember even as a middle schooler she would always ask me if I could stay after practice and show her how to do things that would make her a more versatile player.
Nicole can fill numerous offensive roles, she excels as a CAM or CDM and her long accurate through passes are a constant threat to the opposing team. She is especially deadly in set pieces and she routinely scored multiple goals in the same game from free kicks, even direct corners. Nicole has a high soccer IQ that allows her to uncover weakness in the opposing defense or goalie and exploit it. Her length makes her quite good in the high game, and her long strides are a weapon that she uses very well on breakthroughs.
In every season I coached Nicole, she was either the top scorer or the second scorer on the team and always the top in assists. She has a unique talent to create her own unassisted goals, especially since a lot of them come from set pieces.
I strongly believe that Nicole Davis will be an asset to any program. She always figures out what she needs to do to be impactful from the beginning. Her understanding of the game is a rare find in US soccer players. She will combine her talent with her strong desire to excel. Add her work ethic to that, and she will make you proud for your choice. I encourage you to give Nicole a strong consideration.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
