Personal Statement
My goal is to play for a competitive college team and to further my goals and abilities. Since I was younger, I have always enjoyed soccer and been passionate about it. I practice as hard as I play in games. For me there isn't an off switch. When it is on, it is on. Game time is simply an event that I can show the fruits of my hard work. Win or lose, the experience is always fun. Losing is the worst, but being a graceful loser defines who you are. As a goal keeper I know I am the last line of defense and I really like that pressure and thrive on it. Being a goalkeeper has boosted my confidence in school and has helped me over come my learning disabilities. If I could use four words to describe me is hard worker and smart player.. My learning issues used to really bother me, but the friendships I have developed thru sports and thru my teams have given me that edge to compete and excel. Nothing can defeat me and nothing will. In October2019 we were semifinalist in the MRL State Cup. Coach Taylor from Lake Forest College when critiquing me, said my "field vision is very good. I constantly am checking over my shoulders on and off the ball allows me to make quick decisive decisions on the ball. I defend low balls and I use my body to secure the ball on from dives. I have great positioning in anticipation for a shot" Positioning and angles as a goalie are everything. Covid-19 has been hard on me and my teammates as it is very hard to practice as much as I would like.
