Personal Statement
My collegiate goals begin with my academics. I am pursuing a career in physical therapy. I strive to earn my doctorate for this career. My love for sports and physical activity has given me the desire to become a physical therapist. Also, I love to help people, and I enjoy learning about the body. I am a good candidate for someone's team because I am very competitive and a very hard worker. There is always room for improvement and everyday is a chance to get better. I am a natural leader, and I am very humble. Many people would describe me as a hard worker and determined in both athletics and academics. I have been involved in basketball, golf, and soccer. My sophomore year I was on the varsity basketball team, and we won the Illinois 3A State Championship. In addition, I played competitive golf for the first time on the junior varsity team and won second place in conference for junior varsity. My junior year I played golf for the varsity team and got 7th in conference and 3rd in regionals individually. My senior year, I was one of the captains for the golf team. I have been playing soccer for as long as I can remember. I have played every position on the field at one point in time in my soccer career. A coach can rely on me to play any position even though I primarily play a center-midfielder position. I played for a club team called Fire Independent during my sophomore and junior year. My senior year, I played for FC Peoria which is another club team. I also play for my high school team at Morton High School. My freshman and sophomore year I played both junior varsity and varsity. Freshman year I was awarded the "rookie of the year award" which is given to someone who has been on varsity for one full season and has shown hard work and really stepped up and contributed to the varsity team. This award is given based on a vote by my fellow teammates. My senior year I was voted to be one of the senior captains. Academically I am a good, hard working student. I realize that academics is just as important as athletics. The same amount of hard work and determination has to go into academics as it does in athletics. On top of academics and athletics, I am a part of Interact, a volunteer club through my school, and National Honors Society. Balancing academics, athletics, volunteering, and everything else I do outside of that can become challenging. My determination and persistence helps me to excel through these obstacles. I am lucky to have family and friends who support and encourage me through all the obstacles that I take on.
