Personal Statement
I'm the type of person who likes a challenge. Pushing myself to reach a higher goal is more exciting and in the end more fulfilling. Even if I don't succeed, I know that I went for it and that's a good feeling. I think this mindset has made me braver, stronger, more resilient and open to possibilities.
I also have this mindset regarding academics and have always carried a heavy academic load with both AP and Honors classes. One of my favorite classes has been Honors Business Law. My experience in this class has really heightened my interest in business and pre-law as possible majors in college. Having such a demanding academic and soccer schedule requires me to have strong time-management skills. My schedule is crazy busy and I have learned to prioritize and be efficient.
As for soccer, I started playing in kindergarten. I've played many different sports growing up, but soccer became my main focus. I love the constant movement, attack, and pace of soccer. When I was a U14 and U15 Club soccer player, I was invited to play with a Boys Premier Team. The play was faster and the interaction was more physical. I learned to maintain strong mental focus and the importance of positioning. I also improved my physical quickness and strength. Freshman year, I was one of two underclassmen on my high school Varsity team. We made it to Super Sectionals and I learned the importance of being a flexible team player and adapted my playing style to fit the team. I really love how soccer is a collaborative, team experience. I started playing on the ECNL level as a U16 to take my game to the next level. Currently as a I999 player on the ECNL 98/99 roster, I am training and playing with really talented teammates that challenge me to play my best every practice and game. Playing ECNL has improved my technical skills, speed of play, and overall soccer IQ.
As for my college selection process, I am looking for my next challenge, both academically and athletically. Academics are my top priority, but soccer is my true passion. I can't imagine not playing soccer. It provides me with both a physical and mental outlet that makes me truly happy as a person. On the collegiate level, I hope to be part of a soccer program where I can work hard, make an impact as a player, and be a good teammate.
