Riley Brennan '22 Recruiting Profile

Hi my name is Riley Brennan, I‘m a 2022 defender on U17 Libertyville Fc 1974 elite. My desire is to play high level soccer in college and help make a difference to be part of something great.  Although I played several other sports growing up, I realized soccer is my passion and it has been my committed sport for years now. I have also challenged myself academically by taking honors and AP courses throughout High School. I carry this work ethic on and off the field.  It has helped me lead my club team, as a captain, through 4 consecutive state championships (first time ever done in Illinois state soccer history) and a USYS regional title.  This role has taught me many lessons in regard to leadership, hard work, dedication, empathy, responsibility, confidence, and commitment to my teammates. These traits not only developed me into a better player and leader, but also laid the foundation for me to become the driven student I am today.  

My strengths on the field include my ability to read the game very well ultimately allowing me to anticipate plays and do it playing any of the defensive positions. I’m a very aggressive defender and move quickly to the ball.  However that never prevents me from staying calm under pressure. When I play outside back I take advantage of my speed to push up and add numbers in the offensive attack. I feel my versatility to play anywhere on the back line is valuable.  Ultimately I love the game of soccer and really enjoy being part of a family atmosphere with my teammates.
