Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Kate Mayfield and I am 16 years old and a junior in high school. I've played soccer since I was 5 and on a club team since I was 8. I also play on my high school soccer team and have played varsity all 3 years. Growing up I've played every position on the field, but I eventually found my passion for playing forward.
I enjoy participating in school activities such as attending football and basketball games, and other sporting events where I can support my friends. I am involved in my school's Varsity Club, where we plan events to build school spirit, such as themes for the student sections and raise money toward student scholarships. I love working with children and I take every opportunity to work with them. My favorite type of volunteer work to do with children is being a camp counselor at Camp Adventure, a Christian camp for middle schoolers. This experience is my favorite because the connection I make with each of my campers is so special.
I feel like I would be an asset to a team because of my work ethic and I am an unselfish player who is always looking for the better option of play. I differ from other players because of my work ethic and my willingness to do what it takes to be the best I can be. When it comes to academics I work hard and get help when I need it. I completed the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program,. My personal project compared the requirements of earning a varsity letterman's jacket across the schools in the North Central Conference. My final project included a shadow box that included a varsity letter from all ten schools which I then donated to Kokomo High School Athletic Department.
