Personal Statement
Since I was about 7 years old, I played on the same team, with the same people. They taught me leadership, responsibility and commitment. Last year my family and I moved to South Korea, as my father is active duty military. It has been one of the hardest experiences of my life. However, living here has given me the opportunity to try out other sports such as basketball. Being a starter on Varsity as a Sophomore, and having no prior experience in the sport, taught me how to be humble and persevere when faced with new challenges. It also strengthened my passion for soccer and allowed me to apply my new skills to another sport.
As hard as it has been, I know that these opportunities do not come to everybody. I am grateful for the challenges I have faced here, because they only continue to make me a stronger, impassioned student-athlete. The most important lesson I have learned is that, you need to have grit and be willing to do whatever it takes to succeed. These experiences give me a unique perspective that I know will make me an asset to your team.
