Personal Statement
Over the past 9 years I have become very passionate about playing soccer. I continuously work on improving my skill, and I strive to accomplish whatever obstacle stands in my way. I am always up for a new challenge. I push myself harder than anybody expects for me to, and I hold myself to a high standard. I don't try to impress anybody while playing; I try to do the absolute best that I am capable of and if I don't do as well as I could, I push myself harder the next time. I always appreciate feedback and constructive criticism.
I'm different from other recruits in character because being a military child I consider myself resilient and I have learned to quickly adapt in any situation and in new surroundings. I've had the privilege of playing soccer in a German league while being stationed overseas, where we competed with teams from all around Germany and Europe. This opportunity taught me how to play the game in ways I hadn't experienced previously, and it taught me how to be part of a team where there were language and cultural barriers. I am an outgoing person who works well with others and I find ways to include everybody around me. I have always been a very athletic person and I strive to accomplish whatever I put my mind to. Academically, I work hard to achieve the grades I receive, and stay on top of my assignments regardless of how demanding any sports season may be.
My collegiate goals and aspirations include earning a degree in either Sports Medicine, Athletic Training or Education. I know that regardless of where my degree program takes me, I will pursue a career where I can continue to work within the athletic community. I'm open-minded to the possibilities that will arise as I follow my degree program. I'm also considering attending a college which offers the Air Force Reserve Officer's Training Corp. I have gained invaluable experiences while participating in the JROTC program with my high school, and have interest in continuing along this path with the possibility of commissioning as an officer in the Air Force some day.
I'm a responsible and faithful student, player, friend and daughter who tries to lead by example in all that I do. Soccer has not only brought so much joy into my life, it has taught me how to be a team player, how to lead, how to accept losses with grace and wins with humility. I sincerely hope I am able to earn the opportunity to keep playing after high school.
