Hi! My name is Mikayla Bird! My teammates and friends call me MK! I'm a 4.0 gpa student athlete at Manhattan High School, in Manhattan, Kansas. I've been playing soccer for 11 years across two states, New York and Kansas. I'm from a military family (Army) and started my soccer journey while we were stationed at West Point, NY. We moved to Kansas six years ago and on the second day of living here, I was trying out for a club team.
I'm the first in my family to play soccer and we have all come together through the sport. I'm a dedicated player and supported by my family with early morning strength workouts, long drives to tournaments, league games, and team events.
At the last game of the regular season last year I tore my ACL through a direct impact from two players. I worked hard through my recovery with a team of professionals to get back to playing and was able to join my teammates for the start of the 2023 season. My injury and recovery taught me a lot about myself to include overcoming setbacks, coping with adversity, and being resilient.
I'm looking for a school that will challenge me both athletically and academically. I am open to everywhere however would prefer a school on either coast. I am considering majoring in ATC/PT/kinesiology.
