My ultimate goal is to continue my soccer career and play in college and hopefully after college. If not able to play after college, I plan to coach to give back to the sport that taught me so much. Currently, I am one of the captains of my club team; I was voted captain by my team and coach. My high school career began by running varsity cross country and becoming the Rookie of the Year.
At the beginning of the high school season, I was on JV. After four JV games, I moved up to Varsity; and even started multiple games, being one of four freshmen on the varsity team. Although it was nerve-racking to move up early in the season, I was determined to prove to the coaches that they made the right decision in bringing me up.
Two summers ago, the summer of 2022, I got the opportunity to guest play with the 2005 NPL team for my club at NPL Nationals in Denver, Colorado. The game's pace and competition level only fueled my desire to play at the collegiate level. Playing with this team improved my soccer IQ and speed of play. February 24-26, I again got the opportunity to guest again with the 2005 NPL team at the Las Vegas Mayors Cup. In the summer of 2023, my team qualified for NPL Nationals in Denver, Colorado.
Outside of athletics, I joined a club at school this year for the International and National Business Clubs DECA and BPA. This has been a wonderful opportunity to leave my comfort zone and gain confidence in public speaking. Even though I wasn't sure at the beginning, I love these clubs; they have taught me the importance of pushing myself and doing things outside of my comfort zone.
I also am an avid reader. Whether on my book, kindle, or phone, most days, I'm found reading. With this, I got a 27 on my ACT as a Sophomore in high school, with a 34 on the Reading section. I enjoy going outside and playing around with a soccer ball in my backyard and can often be seen running and working out right after school.
Throughout all my experiences, I have learned that when you put your mind to something and allow your determination to drive you, you can accomplish anything.
In the future, I want to have a job related to STEM. I know STEM is something that not a lot of females go into for a profession, but when I begin my career, I want to become a mentor for others to let them know if it is something they want, then they can accomplish it. I want to give back to others and help them gain confidence in themselves and their abilities, much like my current soccer coach and my experiences of BPA and DECA (International and National Business Club) have allowed me to experience.
