Personal Statement
My name is Hannah DelGiudice and I am the varsity goalie for Messalonskee girls' soccer team in Oakland, Maine. I am a junior this year and have been starting on the varsity team since my freshman year. I have been playing soccer since I was four years old and, growing up, I typically played the center back position but then switched to goalie during my 8th-grade year. I have been around the sport my entire life and it's a huge passion of mine. Playing college soccer has been a dream of mine for quite some time now and I have been working very hard to make that dream a reality. I play soccer year round, attending camps in the summer, playing for my high school in the fall, winter training, an indoor league, and I also play on a spring premier team. One thing that has set me back when I first started playing goalie was my height, I am not your typical goalie as I am only 5'3, but I can easily touch the crossbar as I have worked on getting my vertical up and having a big presence on the field. One unique skill I have that you may not see in a lot of female high school goalies is that I do a dropkick instead of a punt. It's been something that has proven to be very helpful in getting my team out of our end. One thing you can always count on me to do is work very hard, I will work for playing time and I also work hard in the classroom. Academics has been something I've always taken pride in and worked hard at, I want to find a college that I can balance soccer and my schoolwork and a college that puts an emphasis on the student in student-athlete. I would like to study pre-med, although that may be subject to change I want to pursue an education and career within the medical field. I am open to going mostly anywhere in the US as long as it's the right fit for me and what I want to accomplish for the future.
