Personal Statement
I fell in love with the game of soccer about 8 years ago when my sister, Sierra began coaching my recreational team for La Plata Youth Soccer Association. This was the point in my life when soccer became more than just a sport, I played but became something I never wanted to stop doing. Having family member as a coach had its challenges, the endless picking up of equipment, helping plan practices last minute, and always being pointed out for every little thing I did wrong. However, in many ways, this helped me become the player I am today. By helping my sister plan practices, I was able to experience a coach’s perspective and understand the importance and purpose of many drills. Using this tool in my performance has helped me better to apply the concepts learned in drills to my performance on the pitch. As an 8 year old, I felt as if I was being picked on by my big sister when she would always point out my mistakes, little did I know this would help me become the player I am today, because in many instances, I am able to recognize and correct my mistakes before they effect myself or others greatly. Although at the time I did not know how much these things would affect me, I believe that many of the things I learned at such a young age paved the way to not only the athlete, but the person I am today.
My goal is to further my education, all while performing the sport I fell in love with at the collegiate level. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me both athletically and academically. I hope whichever program I am fortunate enough to attend, that I will make an impact on not only the athletic side of things, but academically as well.
