My name is Krystal Lewis and I am 17 years old. I am a goalie for the Maurice J. McDonough High School Lady Rams in Pomfret, MD. I cannot be more happy in that position. I was a goalie when I was 8 but wanted to experience different parts of the field like defender or midfield. Last year, however, I took the initiative and stepped up to my coach and asked if I could "take a shot" at being goalie because our team just stopped trying. When I got in the goal, every girl on my team was saying I was great and that it looked like it came naturally to me. It did. It was just natural to dive to get the ball; to not let it go past; and my placement was always on point. During an interview with our local paper, my coach commented that I had the natural instincts to be on a travel team and that I as on the college level of play. He indicated my talent was something that could not be taught. It was natural instinct. You have to have the instinct. That comment is what made me stick with my position. the most saves i had in one game was a total of 13, only letting in a goal.
My dream job as a little girl was to be a scientist, one that helps people. I now realize that my dream has changed in a better direction. I want to be a clinical nurse with the Air Force, helping people from all over and doing my part for our country,
