Personal Statement

Greetings!

My name is Sarah Elizabeth Balaba and I am an aspiring 2019 forward. I currently play on my high school's team and acquire a lot of game setting and situation knowledge. Throughout my elementary, middle and high school academic-athletic career, I have participated and have been enrolled in club teams and school team events.

I currently hold a 2.7 GPA and would like to major in Biomedical Engineering and minor in Psychology during my college years. I would like to attend a medium sized school (about 10,000-15,000 students) close to home.

Playing soccer at the collegiate level has always been a thought of mine, and I am still trying to configure where I fit best as an athlete, while heavily keeping my academics in mind because school always comes first. With the help of my parents and NCSA staff, I have set up an effective plan of narrowing school choices that will be a great fit for me, academically and athletically.

Academic Accomplishments

Are you in honor classes?

Yes. I have taken all Honors courses throughout my middle school and high school years. My coursework throughout these years have been graded the way honors courses are to be graded, which is a little differently than an on-level course.

Are you in AP/IB classes?

Yes. I take AP literature, AP Human Geography, AP Test Prep and a double period of AP Chemistry, all of which are challenging courses and take up a large section of my schedule this year. I am beyond grateful to be enrolled in each and every one of them despite their difficulty because each of those classes are somewhat of a prelude of what I want to major in college (biomedical engineering).
