Hi, I am Cynthia Soriano a center defender girls soccer player at Arlington Catholic. I am a committed athlete on the field and to my studies. My goal is to always improve my game in everything I do. Soccer was one of the factors to get me going for the track team. I saw this as an opportunity to improve my speed through the off season, since my family was not financially able to support me in doing club soccer like many others. I don't and won’t let this affect me. I have been on my high school varsity soccer team since freshman year as a center defender. I am now on a U19 town team where we have too many defenders. My coach has decided to put me as wing, midfielder and forward. These positions are not new to me because before I had found my position as a center defender I had played in the midfield and forward. My town coach knew I would be able to succeed in these positions because he knew me when I was younger. He has always told me "I have a great kick/shot and I know how to read the field”. He was right, I had the only goal in the second game of the season.
In my studies I have always had some trouble focusing and taking test, but this strives me to be better. Many students have had their grades dropped with Covid, since they have been learning from home and it’s been a harder learning process. However, I have taken this extra time at home to be more focused and getting my work done, which is why my GPA has been rising more and more each quarter. I plan to keep this focus and drive as my school soon goes back into full time.
I know success can only be accomplished through drive and hard work and I’m ready.
