Personal Statement
My participation in sports throughout my high school years impacted me dramatically. My coach (Mr. D) had a great effect on me throughout my sports experience. I played soccer and basketball in high school for many years. I focused more on my soccer career and I intend to continue to play at University. My coach and my parents pushed me to do my best. When I look at where I am and what I have achieved, my heart is filled with gratitude and a heave. Throughout my years playing soccer in high school, I learned valuable lessons that can be used on and off the field. We learn how to be punctual, use time wisely, and handling leadership roles. Being a student athlete, endeavors me to push myself to obtain a high GPA and balancing sports as well. Balancing sports with everything else in life has helped me to be more focused in school and maintaining good grades.
Furthermore, in High School, I had to balance my volunteer commitments, school work and athletic. As an athlete, I have learned how giving back can certainly enrich one’s life. My experience as a team player helped me to see the value in every person. My commitment as an athlete in high school has encouraged me to volunteer as a soccer referee in my community. As an athlete volunteer, I saw how my social skills improving. Being involved in the community will help me achieve my goals in life.
My soccer coach encouraged the team to set goals. Hence, my academic goal is to get a GPA in college of a 3.5 or higher. I want to challenge myself in aiming high and make it into the Honor’s Club. My goal in life is to be a Physical Therapist. In this field, I can connect with athletics and deeply understand their injuries. I enjoy helping others so I believe a career as a Physical
Therapist/Athletic Trainer would be the best fit for me. I can put the needs of others before my own needs and my focus is always to encourage others to be their best self.
Mr. D is my biggest inspiration. He encourages me to pursue greatness. Over the years, he has always been looking out for me. He has also inspires me to keep pushing forward towards my goals. When life is overwhelming and I feel like I cannot make it through, he assures me that I can make it. He has influenced my life drastically and I strongly believe that I would not be the person I am today without his encouragement and support.
In conclusion, I enjoyed my years of playing soccer and as an athlete I am more focused and disciplined. Based on my experience as a team member of the Avon/Middle High School Soccer Team, I think I will be a very good candidate to play for your school. Consequently, giving back is very important in my life and I believe the team has foster a benevolent spirit within me because I have watch some team mates give and give to others without keeping anything for themselves. I love sports and education and with everything I have within me, I will give life my best shot. By doing these things I know I can achieve my full potential. Indeed, I have learned many valuable lessons from my school sport participation that can used to shape my future in a positive way.
