Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Norah Anderson and I am a sophomore in high school. I would love to attend a high-academic college with a women's soccer team where I can play and develop further as a soccer player alongside my teammates.
I have been playing soccer for as long as I can remember and over the years, I have grown to appreciate the dynamics of the game more and more. I love improving my tactical and technical work in practice or at home, and then getting to see it pay off in a game when I can connect a pass faster or recognize when to move at an angle quicker to support a teammate. Moreover, through soccer I have made great relationships with teammates and as a center back, can helpfully direct the field with communication while seeing the movements and possibilities of the next play. Lastly, I enjoy playing soccer with a passion and I know that there is always room to grow as a player and a person, which I hope to continue to do in college.
I am currently a sophomore and for the past two falls, I was on my Franklin High School’s D1 varsity soccer team and started 100 percent of our games as a center back. I also play for Scorpions SC ECNL 04 National team and am a starting center back. I have been with the club since third grade and have been working my way up through the years to be an ECNL starter.
Education is extremely important to me, and academics are my number one priority. This year so far, I have had straight A’s in my all honors and an AP class. I hope to major in English/journalism with a math minor in college, though my options are open to more areas. I really enjoy the travel that I do for club soccer and I hope to incorporate travel into a career someday.
I participate in Best Buddies, the Anti-Defamation League’s a World of Difference, Franklin High School's Peer Leaders, and the Lion’s Heart community service group. I earned the Presidential Service Award in 2019 and 2020. Making a difference in society and making long and lasting connections with the people I meet is something really important for me to keep doing in life.
