Personal Statement
Hi, I’m Josephine Mailloux, a class of 2024 at Notre Dame Academy in Worcester from Grafton, Massachusetts. For as long as I can remember I have absolutely adored the game of soccer. Watching my sisters play inspired me to start the sport myself. So, at 3 years old my parents signed me up for town and coached me and some of my current teammates. My parents and family saw me excel as a player and decided to try to sign me up for club soccer. At only 9 years old I began to increase my game by going to practice, clinics, separate coaching sessions and camps throughout the summer. I just overall enjoyed the experience. To me soccer was my getaway from reality and a sport where I can use my creativity and increase my social skills. At a young age I was extremely shy, but as I continued to play soccer and make new friends, I slowly realized that using my voice and being heard should not be something to be ashamed of but instead I should use it to my advantage. As well as my new found voice I also enjoyed the social aspect. This gave me so many friends that I am still in contact with today. As I grew up playing the game of soccer I started to look into my future and have been attached to the idea of playing at a collegiate level. Some reasons I would love to become a college athlete is to stay active, increase my level of play and to just continue doing what I love. Although the commitment and recruiting process is very difficult, I am willing and eager to be here to work with coaches to find where I belong and to continue to do what I love. I am very excited to hopefully meet and interact with some of you and I cannot wait to start this process!
