Personal Statement
Playing soccer in Greece was one of the most thrilling and exciting experiences of my life. I was so fortunate to play with very talented and skilled players, both male and female. My coach prepared us before arriving, telling us not to assume the Greek teams would be easy wins, and he was correct. This experience allowed me to play against challenging teams, and as a result I bettered myself and was inspired by my opponents and their talents to push myself harder than ever before.
Soccer is my passion. I love watching my favorite Italian team Juventus play against Roma or AC Milan, and I always imagine myself on that field scoring the final winning goal to bring my team to victory. It is a sport ingrained in my family. My inspiration to play college soccer came from watching my cousin--who was recruited at 17 years of age--play for Avellino in Italy. Although they are only a Serie D team, this is the beginning of what I know will be a long and successful career for him. I watch him spend his summers and weekends away from his family and friends to be trained in other provinces. He plays with passion and drive and is not afraid to stand up against older players. In him, I see someone I want to be.
When I was a freshman in high school, my commitment to the sport earned me a spot on the varsity soccer team. I have foot skills, and I am not afraid of the ball or of playing against older players. I have drive, run fast and shoot from half-field with both feet. I have talent, speed, strength and I know I will have a positive impact playing for your school. I am a leader both on and off the field. I help my teammates, leading them in plays and strategies, and I am a team player. I pass the ball when I should, and I shoot when I should. I always strive to be my best and being the only freshman to make the varsity team has given me confidence that if I work hard I can achieve my dream.
Attending an academically challenging school is my top priority. Soccer has given me the confidence to take on such a challenging career path, and my resilience and fearlessness will be an asset in the legal world.
I am looking for a school where I can play, compete and lead while also attaining the education needed to fulfill my academic and sports-related dreams. I have the skills, commitment and character to be a great player and leader on your team.
