Personal Statement

I have been playing soccer for as long as I can remember. Although no members of my family played the sport, I immediately gravitated towards the competitiveness of the game, and because I loved being on the field. I am positioned at center back, but I can play outside back or defensive midfield as well when needed. Playing in the back really makes me think how I am an anchor for my team. Being the last line of defense, I can see all and I am always verbal to my teammates if I see a place where they should be. I am possessive of the ball when I need to be, and will always go for every ball--whether that means heading or chesting or boxing someone out if it means the ball will be mine. I almost always take corner kicks, and I have mastered hitting the ball from the right side of the field, which can be difficult considering I am dominately right footed. My long ball skills are as equally precise, yet I know when to play a quick short pass if options aren't open. Playing town soccer, club, and for my high school has helped me realize that I have always known that I wanted to play collegiate soccer when I was older. I want to continue to grow in understanding of the game and work with new people. My freshman year, I made my high school varsity soccer team and got introduced to several players who opened my eyes to how competitive the soccer world really is. My drive and determination to always do my best athletically, academically, and mentally will take me very far, and prove that I will never back down from a challenge. At my school Newton Country Day of the Sacred Heart, I participate in a Campus Ministry committe, play not only soccer but also lacrosse, and I am looking for a school that will support my hopes of playing college soccer and be academically challenge, so I have a stable place to continue my education and soccer career after I graduate high school in 2020. I am aware that my dream to play college soccer is a very difficult thing to achieve, but I am prepared physically and mentally to begin this journey, and I am determined to fulfill my goal.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
