Personal Statement
I began playing soccer when I was five years old and instantly fell in love with the game. Ever since, I have trained tirelessly to improve my skills and become the best player I can be. I was elected team captain for my senior year, and I coordinate the defensive line as the starting center defender. I can play nearly anywhere on the field and am flexible to changes. Last season, I played sweeper when our team changed our defensive strategy, and I was goalkeeper when our keeper got hurt. Although the soccer program at my high school is not historically victorious, I have learned not to let the scoreboard dictate my game, but focus instead on my performance and perseverance.
Off the field, I have learned leadership skills as a student council representative and planning board member for the Class of 2021. I am a coachable competitor who is always looking to improve my skills and expand my knowledge of the game. I am a quick learner and work on my own time to implement the coach's suggestions into my game. My style of play is flexible and will reflect the needs of the team at any given time.
I am interested in attending an East Coast or Midwest school. I am open to schools of varying sizes, but I see myself thriving in a smaller school. I would like to study the field of science and medicine while playing at an academically competitive Division III school. I am open to DI schools that have an emphasis on academics. My goal on the field is to improve as a player and teammate while playing all four years of my college career.
