My name is Emily Dean and in college I hope to achieve a master's degree and certification in Athletic Training. I have been playing soccer for as long as I could walk, and have developed and immense passion and respect for the sport. In 2020 I received my grassroots certification as a Grade 8 referee. Through all 4 years of high school I have consistently been a three sport athlete, earning varsity level honors in all three sports. I have been recognized twice as an athlete of the month, which puts me among few in school history to receive the award twice within 4 years. Academically I am a member of the National Honors Society and have consistently been place on the highest honors honor roll. During my extra time I work a part-time job and am a student representative for the Van Andel Institute. I may not be the most talented technical player, but will constantly put in the work to improve every day. Previous and current coaches can attest to my on and off the field leadership and comradery with each and every team I have been able to be a part. Something that my mother has said to me that I am going to close with is that I "continue to give everything to a sport that has not given [me] much of anything in return". I can say honestly, that if afforded the chance to be a part of your team I will continue to give to a sport that I love regardless of the potential outcomes.
