My family has a huge influence on who I am. They always believe in me and support me in everything I do. Having such great people in my life that challenge me and encourage me helps me accomplish many things. They’ve shaped me into the dedicated, motivated, and relentless worker I am today.
I’ve played soccer all my life, and when I was little I knew I wanted to play at a more competitive level. I started playing club soccer pretty young and loved it. I continued to play soccer because I love the sport. I love how soccer is a competitive, yet team sport where you have to work together as a team to accomplish one goal. Through playing soccer I have learned mental and physical strength; what it takes to give 110% of yourself each game.
I have set high academic goals for high school. I want to get and keep a high GPA. Academics are a huge deal to me. I always do my best to be responsible and manage my time so that I can get the best grades possible and perform my best academically. I plan to continue to work hard academically in college as well. My collegiate goals are to study at a university that challenges me and prepares me for my future, as well as to play soccer. I aspire to succeed at both of these goals.
I have had to overcome obstacles in my journey to getting where I am today.
Being on teams where I was far from the best and trying to not only accept that, but to see it as a challenge to get better is the biggest one of all. I left club soccer for two years because of financial reasons. When I came back this year, I was not at the same level as my teammates. It has been difficult, but I am up for the challenge to continue to work hard to be the best soccer player I can be.
I am a good candidate for a college soccer team because of my athleticism and willingness to work to fulfill any role a coach asks me to do. I think the thing that sets me apart from other recruits is my athleticism and my ability to see the good in every situation. The unique characteristics or skills that I possess are that I am very coachable and I ask a lot of clarifying questions. I want to correctly do what is expected of me the first time, so I make sure I know what I have to do by asking questions. I am also a three-sport athlete, playing volleyball, basketball, and soccer. With this busy schedule, I have to be, and am, a good manager of time as well as organized. Without these skills; which will help me succeed in college, I would not be able to be as successful as I am at this point! Therefore, I believe I will be an asset to a college soccer team! One of my biggest highlights was being a starter as a freshman on the Varsity Soccer Team. I also loved bonding with my team.
