Personal Statement
I started playing soccer when I was about five years old, and I immediately fell in love with the sport. Ever since then, I’ve never missed a single season of soccer. I’ve been passionate about other sports, but never as full heartily as soccer. When I was about 10, I was thrown into the goalkeeper position with used gloves and a, “you got this!” from my coach. From there my obsession with being a goalkeeper was sparked. Through my journey of soccer I’ve learned that I take a leadership role in the team, I’m very aggressive when it comes to areas where it’s my ball, and I enjoy learning many new things on how to be a better player. My academic goals for highschool consist of keeping a great GPA and partaking in as many advanced classes as I’m able to do. Keeping above a 3.6 is ideal. My college academics are nearly the same as my highschool’s. The college I do end up going to, needs to have a very inclusive environment. Throughout my soccer career it’s been a struggle to have a good local soccer program. Many of the club teams I’ve been in have been over a 45-50 minute drive to practice everyday for decent coaching. As well as the club team I went into the summer of 2021 was over an 60-80 minute drive. From this struggle I was able to realize that soccer is a gift and I shouldn’t take it lightly. I believe that what makes me standout is my work ethic, my social personality, and my field awareness. Through my work ethic, I’m very coachable. I absolutely enjoy when coaches critique things I need to work on. With my social personality I’m able to connect with teammates and coaches, which is key to communicating on and off the field. The most important key that I possess is my field awareness. I’m able to handle high pressure in close games, as well as make smart and strategic passes downfield to start an offensive run for my midfielders and forwards. I become aware of players I need to watch for, as well as point out spaces where my players need to be or do. I’d love to be an addition to your team and contribute all that I am for your team.
