I feel I developed the most as a student-athlete in 2017. My Michigan Rush Jackson team failed to advance to the finals in the Michigan State Cup. I realized then that my talents alone would not be the only factor in helping me attain my goals. I had to do more! Failing to advance to the state finals, motivated me to work even harder both on and off the field. I have been playing soccer since I was 6, and have been a center back since I was 14. I am determined, tough (both physically and mentally), competitive, and have a strong work ethic. I am not a player who thinks solely of themselves. My teammates are my best friends, and we all play a vital role in our team’s success. I constantly push myself to play at the highest level possible whether that is in practice or in a game. I am always striving to improve my game or my individual skills. I love to play the game not by being direct all the time but by possessing the ball, starting from the back line. I am calm under pressure, which is vital to my role as center back, due to the confidence I have in myself and my abilities on the field. I have great communication skills on the field which is key to my role as center back. Possessing good communication skills helps me direct my teammates to stay organized during a game. In my position as center back, I can see the entire field. I communicate with all my teammates as to what play is developing on the field, and I can help direct them as to what to do next or where to go. I feel I am a strong leader on the field not only by using my communication skills, but also by being a good role model to my teammates through my hard work ethic. I tend to push myself and my teammates to be the best that we can be.
I currently play for Michigan Rush Jackson 03/02 girls, and Lumen Christi Catholic School where I will graduate in 2021. I have also been a member of the National Rush Select team. I am a center back with a winning mentality. I am proud to be a part of the Michigan Rush Jackson team! As an example of our team’s hard work, it payed off in the Super Y National Championship, where we won the U16/17 division. We have a great team with wonderful soccer players who push each other to be their best on a daily basis. I also play basketball for my high school where I love to be aggressive on the court, and am very passionate about winning. I participate in various school activities, and my youth group at church. I have 2 older siblings and one younger. Spending time with family, friends, and teammates is what I like to do in my free time, as well as travel. My dream is to play soccer at a college with high academic standards along with a competitive soccer program that strives to improve each and every year. As an athlete of two sports, I know that I have the work ethic, mental toughness, and leadership skills to be a part of an amazing team!
