Soccer has been a very influential aspect of my life. I started playing soccer when I was six years old and have loved every second I am able to spend on the field. Through playing soccer, I have gained many valuable life skills such as perseverance, responsibility, and team work. When faced with difficult tasks and decisions, my experiences with perseverance have helped me push through these challenges and know that through hard work I can succeed. Being part of a team is a big responsibility. You must make sure you are always contributing and putting in your best effort to help the team accomplish important goals. I know that understanding and applying these skills will help me not only with my college soccer career, but also throughout my life.
My academic goals for high school include being in the top 20% of my class. My hope is that by achieving this goal, I will expand my opportunities within college and for my future career in a science and math related field. I hope my high school experiences will help me be fully prepared for college level work. I know that you must be organized and focused to balance academics, sports, and work. One of my biggest obstacles is my tendency to want to stay in my own comfort zone. I must push myself to move forward into the unknown and have been able to do that more in the last 12 months as I meet new people and become part of new groups both in high school and in the community. I have realized that helps me grow as a person and I will continue to reach out for new experiences. I am a team player and fully dedicated to improving my skills. My coach often comments that I am a caring and focused player who doesn’t let obstacles distract me from my ultimate goals. I know that you can learn from mistakes and always work to improve your game.
