Hello my name is Emma Kozicki Class of 2022 and I’m a starting outside midfielder / center forward for The Nationals Soccer Club in Pontiac Michigan. I play for the highest club team in the Girls Academy Division where I'm lucky to train and play against the highest level of competition in Michigan and the United States.
As a soccer player I’m confident in my ability to attack my opponent and drive the ball forward. I love to play the game at a fast pace. My favorite formation is a 4-3-3 when the outside midfielders play more tucked in and the outside backs join the play exploiting the width of the field and attacking the final third. When you play this way I believe it dominates the game and locks your opponent in keeping pressure on the attack. As a player I pride myself on getting out of tough situations in small spaces and successfully executing the ball well to help my team. I’m also very observant on the pitch; on and off the ball, what I mean by that is before I get the ball I’m putting myself in the best position to receive it and know where I'm going to take the ball with my first touch and where the ball will go next.
I’m looking for a soccer program that has chemistry, and the team gets along on and off the pitch, a true group of sisters with a common goal of pushing each other and continuing our athletic and academic careers. Other factors important to me is style of play, school location, and how players connect with the coaching staff.
Academically I'm still undecided, but I’m looking for a diverse university that will challenge me and help me in my decision making process. I’m leaning towards a career in medical or law. I’m looking forward to touring campus both in urban and open campus settings.
