All throughout elementary school my parents had put me in little league soccer teams. I always had fun with it, but it was never more than just fun. In about 7th grade, things started to get a little harder and I realized it was going to be my life because that is what I’d go to when I had nothing else. Through playing soccer, I developed many of the qualities that it takes to be a leader. I learned that the only way to succeed is to succeed as a team, and it’s not always going to be easy. But if you focus on bringing others up while still keeping a high work ethic, it’s all worth it at the end of the day.
In my club season between my freshman and sophomore year, I had completely deteriorated my Peroneus Brevis tendon in my ankle and had ligament reconstruction surgery in October of 2018. The recovery period was estimated to be 8 months, but luckily I gained complete strength back in half of that time and made it back for my sophomore season. This was physically and mentally the hardest obstacle I overcame because of the question of never gaining enough strength and ability back to play soccer again. This experience definitely humbled me and inspired me to work harder, but the most important quality I got from soccer is looking out for my teammates. No matter what is on my mind, or what I’m going through, I’ll always try my hardest to make sure there’s a positive vibe. I can be a great asset to your team because of my ability to work hard and inspire others to work hard while doing it.
