I am Emma Decker, a junior at Petoskey High School. I started playing soccer when I was 5 years old and have loved it ever since! I began my freshman year on the junior varsity team, and then got pulled up to varsity for the remainder of the season. I played a variety of positions that year, and then started my sophomore year on the backline of the varsity team. This was a big change for me, as I have always played in an offensive position, which I prefer. However, this was where I could be the most help to my team and I came away that season with a greater appreciation for that position and a further understanding of the game.
I also participate on a travel tournament team called Petoskey Breakers. This past season I was one of the leading scorers and had multiple assists. Besides soccer, I also do cross country running and skiing to both stay in shape and compete in the off-season.
I am looking for a school that will suit me both academically and athletically. I am a conscientious student with a 3.7 GPA and am currently thinking about majoring in physical therapy or nursing. I am also involved in a program at my High School called SAFE (Substance Abuse Free Environment) in Northern Michigan, which I was chosen to attend the national conference for. In addition, I volunteer to help coach an elementary school soccer team, and teach kids how to figure skate.
I am now excited to have the opportunity to play soccer at the collegiate level!
