Personal Statement
My name is Julia Freed, and I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old. I knew right away soccer was the sport for me. Ever since I was little, people have told me and my parents that I had talent in soccer and that I saw the field differently than most players, even at such a young age. I am very passionate about soccer, mainly because I love playing it and just being in the competitive environment, but also because playing soccer has changed me for the better. It’s taught me to persevere and never give up, it’s taught me how to work with other people, it’s taught me to use my head instead of letting my emotions get the best of me, but most importantly it’s taught me to never be scared of something that challenges you or takes you outside your comfort zone. All this is why I play soccer, and want to continue playing soccer for as long as possible by pursuing soccer at a collegiate level.
My personality is very competitive and hardworking. For me I can’t not try at something, especially if I know I’m good at it. I strive to the the best on the field, for myself and for my team, and I always put in 100% effort. I play for the NOSC Blast U16g Sahara Premiere team. Within the club I have played on many different teams as a support player. As a U12 player I was chosen to represent my age group on a mixed team my club created. The team was combined of the top players from 3 different age groups and played at the U14 C1 level. Since then I’ve played up on the 2002’s team for almost all of their traveling tournaments, including Presidents’ Day tournament in AZ, which we placed first in, the Las Vegas college showcase, Rockford, and I was planning on going to the invitation only tournament in Dallas, Texas last year but because of Covid19 it was unfortunately cancelled.
I hold myself to high expectations in school as well as in soccer. I go to Roseville Area High School in MN and I am an A honor roll student. I take high level classes to challenge myself, one of these classes being AP Environmental Science. Also on the AP test I scored a 4/5. My expectations for myself in school are to have the best grades I can possibly have and to always work the hardest to achieve them. My plan is to carry this work ethic into college and to continue to be the best I can be in every aspect of myself.
