My name is Madeline (Maddie) Hobbs and I am passionate about soccer. I have played soccer since I was 8 years old. I feel that I am easy to coach, take constructive criticism well and work hard to improve in areas my coach feels necessary. I can lead the team and create plays with my ability to see the field and anticipate where to put the ball.
I currently play for MN Eclipse in the Girls Academy League and my club is part of the Mid-America conference. I am one of two players selected to represent MN Eclipse on the Girls Academy Advisory Panel (GAAP). I look forward to the opportunity to be a voice for all players in my club through this incredible platform.
Formally, I played in the Development Academy (DA) for Salvo Soccer Club in Minnesota. While at Salvo I played up 1 year with the 2004's and started almost every game. I was also 1 of 6 players selected to represent the DA in the half-time show of the US Women’s National Team Victory Tour game at Allianz Stadium in St. Paul, MN on Sept. 3, 2019. I played in 1v1 competition against 5 other DA players and had the pleasure of meeting retired soccer player and two-time FIFA Women's World Cup champion, Brandi Chastain. The criteria for selection was based on the ability to attack 1v1; player personality; player’s energy for what the club represents; and commitment to training.
Prior to my time playing in the DA for Salvo Soccer Club, I played for the Minnesota Thunder Academy U13 ECNL team. I competed in many national level events. Additionally, my team won the Minnesota State Championship at the U14 level, playing 1 year up.
I am a committed player and I work hard to optimize my training so I can reach my fullest potential. My goal is to play Div. I collegiate soccer but I remain open to all opportunities. Most important to me is to find a school that fits academically. School is very important to me and I am a dedicated student. I have always maintained a 4.0 GPA and am currently taking honors courses. I eventually want to attend medical school and become a doctor.
I am able to balance my studies with my outside activities which include playing soccer at the GA level, playing the piano, participating in student government and volunteering at many different organizations in my community such as The Ronald McDonald House Twin Cities, The American Cancer Society of MN, The Pinky Swear Foundation and Make-A-Wish Minnesota. I also help run my families’ own Non-Profit organization, Chef Lucas Food. The non-profit was born from the cancer battle of my older brother, Lucas. We raise funds and awareness for children battling life threatening illnesses such as pediatric cancer through live auctions at gala's and chef table events in our bustaurant .
I have a desire to excel in all that I do and I work hard to create opportunities to achieve my goals in school, sport, career, and family life. Soccer is a great sport and it continues to teach me about myself. I hope someday to give back to the sport that has given me so much.
