Personal Statement
Not everybody is meant to be a goalkeeper. Keepers require special characteristics, such as mental resilience, over-the-top physical strength, quick thinking, fearless aggression, confidence in themselves and their teammates, and a booming voice to direct their team. I work extremely hard every single day to make sure I possess all of these characteristics. Staying humble, but proud is also a big part of being a successful GK.
My name is Hailey Volkart, I am 16 years old (a 2023 graduate), and I attend Watertown-Mayer High School in Watertown, Minnesota. I have a 3.8 GPA, which puts me at 31 out 136 in my class. I just recently completed my fourth year as a varsity team member, which was my third year starting. I lettered for the first time my 8th grade year, and was named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention team during my 9th, 10th, and 11th grade years. Also during 2019-2020, I tried out for ODP and was accepted into their program. I went on to make the state team and national team. I was supposed to travel to Europe in March of 2020 to compete with the national team, but it was cancelled due to COVID-19. I was accepted into the Coerver Performance Academy during the summer of 2020, and trained with them throughout the entire winter and spring of 2020. For club last year, I trained with my club, Eden Prairie Soccer Club, at the U16 National Premiere League level.
Today I am extremely passionate about being a goalkeeper, and I know I have what it takes to succeed at the collegiate level.
