Personal Statement
In a past fall season, I decided to play for a different team for a different club. This was a really difficult decision for me because the team I was on before has girls on it that I’ve played with for years. Those girls were some of my closest friends but the team and club we were playing for were not going to push me like this new one would. I knew it would be hard to leave my friends but I also knew I needed to grow. The season has now started and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. My coach and teammates are amazing and push me to be better every day.
Ever since I started playing competitive soccer I have always played in the center of the field. I love being in the middle of the field because you get to work with both offense and defense. In the midfield, I have developed a sense for slowing the play down and keeping possession, but I can also identify the right time for a counterattack. While in the midfield I connect with forward and outside players, making runs for goal scoring opportunities. I play defensive mid in both high school and club soccer. I am able to benefit my teams by hustling to the ball, not getting knocked off the ball easily and connecting passes throughout the field. I have also had some opportunities to play attacking mid which works out well. When I play attacking mid I apply my knowledge for the game to create opportunities and get to utilize my powerful shot more.
On and off the field I motivate myself and my teammates to be the best they can be. I have a strong work ethic, but the thing that pushes me the most is my love for the game. My dedication and experience will apply to any team and I am excited to continue my soccer career. After high school, I am also interested in a medical program because I feel like a career in the medical field will keep me interested and on my toes. Being able to help others every day is what draws me to this field.
