Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Shyla Levens. I plan on completing four years in college. Academics are an important thing to me, because it will help me achieve my future goals; I plan on becoming a physical therapist. I am a straight A student and love school. I am currently in Upward bound, which is a college simulator where over the summer we take classes as a college student would. I have been on the Distinguished honor roll since the beginning of high school. Additionally, I love to help and give back. I am a part of the Cardinal Community Service club where we put on multiple events for the community. We also go out to other schools and help with their events as well as help clean up the community. The thing I most look forward to, however, is playing soccer for the college I go to. I play left/ center back, however I can play defensive midfield as well. I have been playing soccer since I was four years old and know the game very well. I made the varsity team when I played club and was a starter for JV and sat for Varsity for my first year of high school. I was a starter for the Varsity team sophomore year. This past year, junior year, I was a starter as well. Playing soccer these past few years have taught me how to preserve more than ever. Sophomore year, I had ACL reconstruction surgery toward the end of the season which took me out for 6 months, however, this season I came back stronger than ever and better with my left foot. This season, we had lost a whole team of seniors, but we came out hard and made our way to second place in districts. Next year, I’m determined to win 1st place like we did in 2018 for the first time ever. This season I also got the honor of making the All- District 1st team. I look forward to communicating with you, coaches. Thank you for your time and have a blessed day!
