Personal Statement

Hello,

My name is Kiana Rivera and I am interested in athletic and academic opportunities for college. I have been playing soccer for about 12 years (I started as a Kinder-kicker the spring before I started Kindergarten), and every single year I see myself improving tactically, technically, physically and mentally. I love to score goals and I love to assist my teammates in scoring! I am a good candidate for playing soccer at the college level because I am not only good with the ball at my feet, I have other contributions, as well. I have a positive attitude toward all of my teammates and coaches, I push my teammates and myself in a way that benefits the whole team, I am a very coachable player, and I not only want to win, I want to win as a team, not only as an individual. There is no "I" in team. Technically, tactically, and physically, I am also a good candidate because I have use of both my left and right foot for passing and scoring, to even bigger things, including corner kicks, free kicks, and shooting from outside the 18 yard box (I have even scored from more than half field!). I not only have a great power shot, I use it when necessary, and when the timing isn't perfect to shoot, I always look for the best option to pass to my teammates for them to score or make opportunities as well. My "soccer IQ" is good as well. In my opinion, soccer is not only about the physical aspect of the game, and if it was not for the mentality put into the game or even practice, soccer would not be there same sport that I love. Soccer is both mentally and physically beneficial, and without the contribution of both aspects, soccer would not be the sport it is today. My goals for college are academic and athletic. My goals academically are to reach my full potential in learning and in my grades (I love science and would like to be a Nurse or Physician Assistant), which to me means having at least a 3.75 GPA throughout my high school and college years, and to strive to become better student, which can help me in my future career. My dream is to be successful in my career and give back to the college, the student athletes, and in my community. Athletically, I would like to reach my full potential, not only with the ball at my feet, but also by making excellent health and fitness choices. Soccer is not just about winning to me...it is not only about playing with your feet...it is about playing with your heart.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
