My name is Millie Caldon and I am a 17 year old senior at Gilford High School. I have always been someone who participates in as many activities as possible, whether they be academic, athletic, or for my own enjoyment. I am always active in sports (soccer, basketball, and softball), clubs (Spanish club, Student Leadership, Environmentalist club, and Varsity club) , or hobbies (guitar, painting, baking, skiing and snowboarding) and I am always striving to get better at them.
I have been playing soccer since I was four years old and it has always stuck out from the other sports that I participate in. Soccer has always been my favorite of the three sports I play and my passion for it still continues to grow. Being involved in so many teams and sports has strengthened me as a player and a person. Individual skill and ability is important but it will never beat the need and success for teamwork. I am someone who actively believes in team players and the importance of everybody on the field. Being a midfielder has truly shown this to me as it, along with all other positions, forces communication and collaboration among teammates.
Sports have not only strengthened me as an athlete but also as a student. Sports are a major structure in my life and keep me on track. Balancing sports and academics is a challenge that I have always enjoyed and the times I did not have both were times I did not like.
Academics is a major importance in my life and I pride myself for how far I have gotten and the motivation that I have to get further. I want to get far in college both academically and athletically, and I will work as hard as I can to do so.
