I missed my 8th grade spring soccer season due to surgery, believing I would never play competitive soccer again.
While recovering, I had time to reflect. In competition, I would get frustrated at my teammates, my coaches, my parents and mostly myself. I realized how negative and damaging these thoughts were. No longer would I be my biggest critic. To recover and have a chance to play again, I needed to become my biggest supporter.
I decided to push away the frustration I felt, control what I can control and believe in myself. I changed my mindset.
Recuperation was long and difficult, the most challenging period of my life. I always play hard until the game is over and after five months, difficult days and hard work resulted in me playing club soccer and varsity as a freshman in high school. I am a better player, athlete and teammate today and looking forward to taking my soccer career to the next level in college.
I am surrounded by a family of extremely hard workers and achievers. I have two older sisters and a younger brother who have all aspired to be excellent athletes and always encourage me to take everything to the next level with a drive that means never doing anything halfway and finishing what I start.
Academically, I push myself every day. I strive to maintain my grades and GPA while participating in sports year-round. I plan on studying science in college with a goal of becoming an anesthesiologist
