Personal Statement
My athletic and academic career reflects my personal philosophy of life. I am hard working, dedicated, passionate, a good friend and teammate, respectful of others and strive to succeed. I am able and willing to sacrifice for the things that I feel are important for me and my team. This means long hours, lack of sleep, having to make the time to complete my responsibilities and still be able to excel on the field and in the classroom. But I enjoy the success; the feeling of the good grade, the win, and the accomplishment.
Academics are very important in my life. I have never be afraid of a challenge. When you look at my academic transcript, you will see a very challenging list of classes, including a high number of honors and AP classes. I enjoy my math and science classes, but have kept a diverse set of classes. I have taken German as a foreign language for all 4 years and will be an officer in the German Honors Society this year. Many of may classes were accelerated and had me learning advanced concepts with older students. I believe that this has prepared me well for life in college and beyond.
Athletically, I have the same level of dedication and resolve. In my high school of about 2,400 students I will graduate as a 4-year Varsity Letter Winner in BOTH soccer and basketball. In soccer, I am seen as a leader and control the game from the goalkeeper position. My high school plays in an extremely competitive conference. In basketball, I am a 5'8" Center/Forward who is called on to compete against some of the top players in the state and girls who are over 6' tall. A highlight this past year was competing against a girl who was a McDonald's All-American and Gatorade NJ Player of the Year. Throughout my soccer club team career, I had always "played up" with the older girls and was able to excel.
To my future college coach...you will find that I am a person who will put in the time and the work, both athletically and academically, to successfully reach my goals.
