Personal Statement
Ever since I was 6 years old I have been playing soccer. I started in a recreation league training once a week and having fun at practice with my friends. It was not until I grew old enough to play club soccer at the age of 9, when I learned soccer was not just about having fun with my friends and winning games. Club soccer has taught me core values of teamwork, leadership and how to react to a competitive environment.
My love for the game grew stronger as I realized every practice was a chance to improve. I learned that my spot on my club team was not given to me, and I had to exhibit my hard work and consistency in every practice and game. I learned that those who put in the extra work training and observed the game outside of practice were the most successful.
I am a modern attacking full-back. I am well conditioned and able to run box to box for 90 minutes. While I am naturally left footed, I can dribble, pass and shoot with both feet. Making positive runs and creating space for teammates is an important part of my game.
I have the same level of commitment towards my academics as I do towards soccer. I can apply the core values I have picked up over the years playing soccer to my schoolwork. I strive to exhibit leadership in the classroom, and put in extra hours studying to help me achieve success.
