Personal Statement
My love for soccer began when I was three years old, dribbling the ball around the fields during my older siblings’ soccer games. When I turned five I joined my first recreational soccer team and by age nine I had convinced my parents to let me join a travel soccer team so I could play year round. I began playing forward for a U-11 girls soccer team and my commitment to the game has grown ever since.
I have had the opportunity to play many positions on my high school and club teams. During freshman year at Ocean City High School I made the varsity girls soccer team and have been on it ever since. Over the past three years, my primary position began as forward and soon grew to include outside midfield and center defender as well. I joined Hamilton Elite FC during my freshman year and played outside midfield for two years. Last spring, my club coach started training me for the position of center defender and I have stuck with it ever since. Each of these positions have offered me a new perspective on the field and have helped my overall understanding of the game and development as a player.
This summer I tried out to become a beach lifeguard for the Brigantine City Beach Patrol and was privileged to have a job that not only taught me responsibility and teamwork but also kept me in great shape. I was able to train by running, swimming, and rowing everyday.
As a student athlete, I have learned to manage my time and I am dedicated to working hard on and off the field by maintaining a high GPA and staying involved in my school and community. I am a member of the National Honor Society, OCHS Key Club, and OCHS Select Choir, as well as the Brigantine Crossroads Youth Group.
I aspire to play collegiate level soccer at a well rounded school that can challenge me in the classroom and on the field. I am very coachable and take pride in pushing my teammates and myself to be the best we can be by leading through example and working together.
