Lydia DeTraglia '24 Recruiting Profile

     My name is Lydia DeTraglia and I have been playing soccer since I was four years old.  I am passionate about soccer because I enjoy constantly striving to become better and working towards a common goal with my teammates. Continuing to work with others who are committed, and dedicating myself to achieving a goal are reasons why I would love to continue playing soccer at the collegiate level. 

     I joined my first club at ten years old. It was with this club that I developed my skills, my passion for and commitment to the sport. I became a starter on Varsity my freshman year of high school. It was the experience of playing with these skilled and mature players, who always wanted to help me improve, that inspired me to always work hard. I also participated in the NY East ODP program for two years. In my second year I was selected to the east region team as an alternate. I have joined the Syracuse Development Academy GA team in order to challenge myself to play at a higher level. 

   Training under various coaches throughout my soccer career, I have been told my strengths are natural speed, coachability and work ethic. Every practice session I see as a chance to improve. I always work hard and listen to and apply the suggestions of my coaches' during my game play. I am extremely competitive, while still attempting to remain a positive leader on the field. Additionally, I am a versatile player, having played outside, midfield, and outside back. 

    My desire to always improve and my work ethic has also impacted my academic choices, as I always take the most rigorous courses offered. I plan on continuing my academic rigor at the college level. I am also a member of the indoor and outdoor track teams, National Honor Society, Tri M Music Honor Society and our high school chamber choir. 

   I look forward to fulfilling my athletic goals at the collegiate level and continuing my academic pursuits. I believe I would be a great asset to any team as both a person and a player!
