Personal Statement
I am a Junior in high school and I play right-back, left-back, holding mid, and center back. I have loved watching women’s soccer, especially collegiate and the NWSL, since I was a little girl. Watching these women play competitively led me to play competitively starting in middle school and started my desire to play in college. This past year, I played and started on my high school varsity team as a Junior. I currently play on a 2005 DPL team and start on that team as well. As I have progressed through soccer, I have strengthened my leadership and communication skills on and off the field. My soccer strengths include being able to direct the team on the field from the center back and defensive mid position, I am a competitive, strong and physical player, I learn from my coaches and grow tremendously each season, and I am a great team player who supports my teammates on and off the field. I am a motivated and dedicated player who works with a personal soccer coach and a strength and conditioning coach every week to further my positional knowledge, master skills, and enhance my strength and speed. I want to be part of a college soccer team because I love watching and playing the game, I want to play competitively at a higher level and contribute to a team, I want to continue my growth as a player, and I want to experience the bond between teammates. I want to play for a college program that values teamwork, promotes a positive culture, will encourage my growth on the field, and will help me succeed in the classroom.
As a student, I am able to balance my school and soccer responsibilities and I succeed in the classroom with Honors and AP-level classes. I currently have a 4.5 GPA and I strive to improve this with more AP classes through the AP Capstone program. In college, I want to go major in biology and then continue to graduate to school to eventually become a surgical physician assistant.
I have upstanding morals and I strongly believe in helping others. I have been a Girl Scout since third grade, recently earning my Silver Award through my work with the Autistic classroom in my middle school. I will soon start the journey to earn my Gold Award by the time I graduate. I have also been active in my church, recently becoming Confirmed in the Catholic Church. Now that I am old enough, I will be volunteering with the Special Olympics once social distancing ends. This year, I will be joining the Key Club and the National Honor Society and I look forward to participating in the community service projects.
I believe my passion, motivation, soccer skill set, academic success, and morals will make me a valuable addition to a collegiate soccer program. I look forward to embarking on this recruiting journey!
