Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Ellie Salter and I am currently a senior at Clayton High School, Clayton, NC-where I was born and raised. I am left-footed and I play both attacking mid and left wing. Ever since I was four years old, I have played soccer and have absolutely loved it. While soccer makes me competitive, it also is really fun and can help get my mind off of other stressing things. The game itself is something I enjoy, but my teammates and coaches really add to that. My parents have also been very supportive of my passion for soccer since I was little. Many of my good friends are ones I met through soccer, on my school and club teams, since it has such an impact on my life and makes it easier for me to connect with other people. In the Spring I play on the school team, where I have made the varsity team as a freshman and continue to play on that team this year. During the fall I play club soccer and run cross country for my school, which helps me get in shape for school soccer in the Spring. Throughout the year I play indoor soccer with a few teammates to keep up my touches.
Outside of soccer, I can be found running or exercising with my friends. I like to volunteer at my church, and youth soccer events. Other things I do in my free time are drawing, baking, or playing music on the piano. School and keeping up a good GPA are very important to me, along with clubs such as Key Club and International Club.
For college, I want to go somewhere I can play hard and improve on the pitch, but also be challenged in the classroom. I'm not too sure of what I want to study in college; probably something having to do with science relating to biology or the environment. I'm open to many options of colleges in different places and of different levels. Whichever one I go to is a place I want to be well fitted with, and one that can meet my competitive athletic and academic needs.
