Personal Statement
My family loves sports and this love came naturally to me as the youngest of five children. I grew up playing sports with my older siblings and learned to love competition. My family played a lot of basketball and I wasn’t exposed to soccer until grade school with my friend Emmi. She played travel soccer and she taught me how to play in the 1st grade. I never got to play with Emmi on a travel team as she was tragically killed when we were 10 years old. Her death was very hard for me, but it also gave me a passion and drive to play competitive soccer. When I was 11, I started playing travel soccer at Fayetteville Soccer Club. I started as a beginner but was able to learn quickly and develop as a challenging player even that first year. I have been playing with this club about 5 seasons and I have grown strong physically and mentally and have went from being a beginner to a seasoned leader on the field. I am very competitive and have a drive and love to win. This passion is shown on and off the field.
I also love to run and have completed 3 half marathons and 2 full marathons. In the fall of 2017 I completed the St. George Marathon in St. George Utah and won my age division (14 and under). Running marathons requires mental and physical stamina. Running these races early in my life has showed me what I am physically capable of and I have set my goals accordingly.
Academically I have been successful earning all A’s and B’s in middle school. I am adjusting to high school well and I hope to someday go to dental school. My parents have taught me the power of hard work and to have an honest character. I know that I can achieve my goals of academic success and be a successful athlete. I can make a difference on and off the field.
