Personal Statement
Soccer has been one of my passions for the past fourteen years. I began with my church league when I was three and played there until I was ten. My parents saw the devotion I had and asked if I would like to move to a competitive club. I was behind the others who had completed the club's youth academy. I had to work hard to catch up to their skill level. I did as my coach recommended: 1,000 to 2,000 ball touches every day along with speed and agility training. The coaches recognized my improvment and determination, and each year I was placed on stronger teams. This year I played up a year on the U19 Elite team, ranked #3 in North Carolina. Outside of practice, I still do my ball touches, skills training and conditioning, because I know that this extra work is necessary for me to improve and reach my goals. To the coach who recruits me, I will give you commitment, strength, agility, respect and determination. I love practices and enjoy working with the team so that we all grow and improve. Seeing the group achieve goals and earn victories drives me to continue to put 100% effort every time I take the field.
Academically, I am just as driven in the classroom as I am on the soccer field. This year I will have completed six AP classes, hold a 4.44 GPA, and am a member of the National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theata, etc. Outside of soccer and academics, I value my community and give back in volunteer time. For the past five years, I have been a soccer "buddy" to children and adults with special needs. I am also a youth coach at the same church league where I started playing soccer. I hope to continue giving back to the community and make an impact at the college I attend. My goal is to be recruited by a college that offers a challenging academic program, a competitive soccer team, while also providing campus and community involvement opportunities.
