Personal Statement
Soccer has helped keep me focused in school and has encouraged me to maintain good grades. I have been playing soccer since I was 3 years old and it has always been a big part of my life. It gave me a reason to work hard in school because I wanted to go to practice, but I wouldn't be able to if my grades weren't where they should be and my homework wasn't finished. I also use soccer as an outlet for my energy and a way to relieve stress. The biggest influence soccer has had on me though, came when I made the varsity women's soccer team at my school as a freshman. I was not as confident as a player or as a person in my abilities on and off the soccer field. Through hard work and taking my coaches and teammates feedback and advice I have become much stronger and more confident on and off the field. I have also become a strong leader and have many people, teammates, and coaches rely on me and look to me to be a leader.
My goal for the future is to attend a college with strong academics and athletics, where I can continue my education and continue growing as a player and a person. After college I want to either go to medical school or pursue a career in the medical field where I can continue to help people and athletes. I enjoy the opportunities I have by being a member of the Health Science Academy at my school. I work as a sports medicine student trainer for football, lacrosse, men's soccer, basketball, track and wrestling games/meets and would like to continue helping people and athletes on an even larger scale.
