Personal Statement
Sports are my life. Soccer is my passion. When I was really little, I was extremely shy and didn’t speak to many people besides family and close friends. I was quiet at school, hardly even speaking to my teachers. Sports have brought me out of my shell and have helped me in ways I could never have imagined. They have helped me become more confident, outgoing and overall just bring so much joy into my life. The opportunities and experiences I have gotten from soccer are something that I never take for granted.
In February 2020 I tore my ACL playing basketball. A devastating injury with a long recovery. Being out of soccer for a year seemed like the end of the world at the time, but this experience has helped me grow in so many ways and has helped define who I am as an athlete and a person. Number one, this injury has made me become mentally stronger. Number two, it gave me time to study the game more and expand my soccer IQ. Most importantly, it helped me learn to appreciate and take care of my health more. Everytime I take the field, I remind myself of all the hard work I have put into returning to soccer and take it as a blessing to be playing. Every single experience is a chance to grow and become what I want to be.
I am never satisfied or comfortable with where I am at as a player. There are always things to improve on and I will never stop finding those things to work on. If I feel that my shot is off in a game, I will spend hours at the field the next day working to fix it. I have never had a coach tell me to pick up the pace or to focus. I am self driven and laser focused on where I want to go in life.
What I want to be is the best student athlete I can possibly be and I will stop at nothing to become that on my way to finding the right college program for me. I hope you will take me into consideration for your college!
