Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Eva Fatzaun. Growing up, I have watched my older siblings play soccer, and I instantly fell in love with the game. I started playing soccer when I was 10, and ever since, I have been working to improve myself every season. What I love about soccer is that there is always room to improve. I am always pushing myself to get better whether it is training individually in my backyard, practicing with my team, or competing in a game. Currently I play for my hometown club team which is very small and lacks the resources of larger clubs. As a team, we have moved up to the National Piedmont League, despite playing against the biggest clubs in our region. I have been competing in this league for 3 years now, and I have enjoyed the competitiveness. This has taught me the lesson that success is earned by hard work, and I take this lesson with me every time I step onto the field. I try to bring a positive voice to lift up and encourage my teammates on and off the field. I try to exhibit leadership by pushing my teammates along with myself to become the best we can be. My primary position is center back. In this position, I give 100% effort to communicate, read the game, and to anticipate runs and through-balls. I am hoping to continue my love for this sport by playing at the college level. I hope to attend a college that gives me the opportunity to give back to my community, challenge me academically, and allow me to play competitively. I am interested in journalism and something in the biology or medical field.
