Personal Statement
I have played soccer since I was three years old. I have been on winning and losing teams, with boys and girls. Playing with a variety of people at different skill levels increased my skills and ability to adjust my playing style. A highlight of my soccer experience was winning the Sportsmanship Award for the Ohio SAY soccer tournament in 2016. My travel club coach was also coaching a rec league for a neighboring community, and asked me to participate. It was a great feeling to help out a different team.
The summer before my freshman year I faced a new challenge. I had to overcome a hip flexor injury - believed to be from overuse. Physical rehabilitation kept me from participating in my HS team's summer conditioning, which made me work even harder when I was cleared to play at the start of pre-season. It was a disappointment to not be at 100% and to start my HS career at the jv level, but through hard work and perseverance I was playing both varsity and jv and then only varsity by mid-season. However, the real victory was getting voted Most Improved Player by my coach and teammates my sophomore year.
As I look ahead to college, I want to find a school that is a good fit academically and athletically. I am a strong student, with a current GPA of 4.286. At this time, I am interested in becoming a pharmacist. A career in pharmacist matches my strengths in problem solving and helping make other people's lives a bit easier. My own experiences with pt, along with seeing my father's struggles with Parkinson's Disease, and my sisters struggles with Ehlers-Danlos, have made me want to help other people.
